Message from the Head of School

Students today demand relevancy: our students want to see connections between what they are learning and how they can make a difference in the world. We give our students the power to drive their own learning in a highly collaborative environment, rich with opportunities to dialogue and problem-solve with each other and with their teachers.

WELCOME!

This school website will provide you with in-depth details about the mission, vision and philosophy of this extraordinary school. You will find information on areas such as the curriculum, the program overview and the school’s core values and beliefs.

Preparing students in the 21st century is a complex and challenging educational endeavor. More than ever, our students need to become confident, accomplished, and articulate leaders. Fortunately, the Metropolitan School of Panama provides a rigorous IB (International Baccalaureate)  education to the local and international community which involves much more than mastering content - today, content is available at the click of a mouse or tap of a finger.

Our students must be able to ask the right questions, and identify the problems that need to be solved. They must think critically, collaborate effectively, possess initiative, adaptability, and curiosity, analyze information and communicate effectively. To help our students acquire these 21st century skills, the MET’s talented faculty construct curricula environments and opportunities that encourage our students to explore and discover across academic disciplines, whether it's science, technology, and math - or language arts, drama, fine arts, world language, and athletics.

To accomplish these dynamic educational goals, we are a technology rich school. Each student from Kinder to 5th Grade has an iPad, and each student from 6th to 12th Grade has a Mac laptop. The MET believes in harnessing students’ passion for technology to expand their interests and stimulate learning in today’s mobile, networked environments.

Students today demand relevancy: our students want to see connections between what they are learning and how they can make a difference in the world. We give our students the power to drive their own learning in a highly collaborative environment, rich with opportunities to dialogue and problem-solve with each other and with their teachers.

Most importantly, I am confident that when you walk through the front doors of our school, you will feel an immediate sense of belonging to our welcoming school community.  Our environment here is loving, warm, caring and fun. The best way to get to know the school is to come for a visit, experience the energy, explore the facilities and see first hand the friendly environment our school is known for.

I invite you to spend a few minutes viewing the pages of our website for more information - I think you will like what you read!  But, better yet, come to our campus and watch us in action.

Sincerely,

Monique Flickinger
